50 Feared Die In Abuja Bomb Blast This Morning (Photos)

At least 50 people were killed on Tuesday in a car bomb in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri, the epicenter of an Islamist revolt in Africa’s largest oil producer, police and witnesses said.
No one claimed responsibility for the blast. But militant sect Boko Haram, which was founded in the city, has continued to attack schools and government and military targets in the face of army crackdown on its four-year-old revolt.
The bomb, planted in a three-wheel rickshaw taxi, exploded outside the state television offices at around 1.30 pm (1230 GMT), witnesses told Reuters.
“My men counted 17 dead as at 2:00 pm and they are still counting. I have instructed my men to go to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the state specialist hospital to verify if there are others,” said Borno Police Commissioner Lawan Tanko.
“I saw two boys on the ground and their bodies cut into pieces, two other cars immediately caught fire and I ran away because there was too much blood,” city resident Aisha Hassan told Reuters.
Soldiers fired shots into the air to disperse crowds before cordoning off the roads around the bomb site, witnesses said.
Dozens of youths, some armed with machetes, protested on the street after the attack, accusing politicians of failing to curb violence in Maiduguri, they said.
President Goodluck Jonathan stepped up a military campaign against the group in May last year. But it has not stemmed the violence which killed thousands last year, security experts say.
The radical Islamist sect says it is fighting to create an Islamic state in a country of nearly 170 million split roughly equally between Christians and Muslims.
Maiduguri is the capital of Borno state where Boko Haram first launched its uprising in 2009, beginning with drive-by shootings of policeman but quickly developing the scale and sophistication of its attacks.
Tuesday is public holiday in Nigeria when millions of Muslims are marking the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday.
Boko Haram and splinter Islamist groups are viewed as the biggest security threat in Nigeria, Africa’s second largest economy.
The United States and its allies are increasingly concerned that Islamist groups in Nigeria will strengthen ties with al Qaeda’s north African wing and its largely domestic insurgency could become more anti-Western.
A Boko Haram suicide attack on the United Nations building in 2011 in the capital Abuja killed at least 25 people.

Top Nigerian Artistes Who Parted Ways With Their Record LABEL For Better Ones

Lax

The Wonderful Artiste just had a major hit with Wizkid on the Song caro and decided to call it quits to flaunt his own record . it was reported that Wizkid had refused to give him his share in the money gotten from their hit track CARO. He (LAX) said he is ready to flaunt his own record label S.M.R ENTERTAINMENT. We are yet to hear anything concrete from the LAX till now. Hope something special is coming up

Skales

The Handsome artistes with various tracks on his mix such as Denge Pose, Take care of me e.t.c.

It is reported that Dem Mama records have signed Skales but there is no official statement yet. Skales left E.M.E after his contract was terminated after 3 years and no fruitful growth.

Patoraking

The Alubarika and Girlie O crooner recently left Dem Mama records for Foston Muzik, it was not noticeable until the Logo of Foston Mzik appeared in His Girlie O video. It should be noted that Patoranking first made a great hit when his alubarika song was released under Dem Mama records.

Jesse Jagz

The breakup Bug hit Chocolate city badly, starting with Jesse Jagz. He Left and formed his own Record Label , Jesse Jags Nation .Jesse Jagz, 28, was signed to the label along with his elder brother Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga in 2008.

Although it came as quite a shock to plenty of people. Close sources to Jesse Jagz and Chocolate city tell us war has been brewing between the ‘Wetin dey’ singer and the hip-hop label.

According to a reliable source, Jagz, ‘was fed up with the way the label was handling his career and decided to frustrate them in return.’
There are very strong claims that Jesse Jagz, a truly talented rapper and producer, is a Marijuana addict.

Brymo

One of the Revelations under Choc City shocked the Entertainment industry in Nigeria when he decided to call it quits with the M.I and Choc City after 3 years of being together.

The Bug hit Chocolate city twice as not too long after Jesse Jags left, brymo also left May 2013. He left the record label and released a new album, Mechant Dealers & Slaves in October . It was not a mutual breakup as Chocolate city insisted that he was still with them under his contract till 2016 . It was that bad that it beacame a Legal case .

It was said that when Chocolate city consistently failed to fulfill its obligations under the contract and rather than resolve amicably, the label is devising strategies to ensure that the Artiste remains unproductive.

“I’ve been very loyal to the contract, working hard to be heard, but I’ve been cheated by Chocolate city,” brymo lamented.

May D

Another Split was that of May D leaving Square Records.  It was said that May D was not happy at square records and he felt that they were not doing much for his career. A press release said

“I, JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences. We at Northside and Square Records wish him all the best in his career and life.”

May D has been doing very well after then with various collabos including the Happy with Mafikozulo.

Wande Coal

He left Mavin Records to set up  his Black Diamond Entertainment outfit taking along with him the Mavin official disc jockey, DJ Spinall. Along with his manager, Nana Abbey, Wande now operates on his own.

Some sources says that the reason Wande did not sign with Mavin when the record label launched was that he strongly believes Mavin Records cannot move his career to the next level and disagreement over sharing of monies with Wande not willing to shift ground on 10% with Mavin asking for 20%.

Though before the confirmation, it was gathered that Jazzy slammed his former label mate, Wande Coal, for allegedly stealing one of his songs titled ‘Baby face’   and shortly after, Don Jazzy took to twitter to make a quick rant not divulging details.

Seyi Shay

The UK returnee Nigerian pop singer Seyi Shay ended her deal with  Flytime Promotions/Records outfit  headed by Cecil Hammond. Seyi has signed a new deal with a UK-Nigerian based management company J-Management who released a statement announcing the deal along with two promo singles.
An official statement from J-Management reads ‘Seyi Shay has officially signed a new partnership deal with international talent company J-Management following a pilot collaboration‘. And for confirmation of the breakup, Bayo Akande, a rep for J-Management said ‘Yes it’s true, she left a while back, we’ve been working on this for a while‘

It was in 2011 that Seyi Shay joined Hammond and Flytime and also  another returnee Tiwa Savage  later left his outfit to sign with Don Jazzy‘s Mavin Records in  2012. Two very talented artistes leaving Flytime records within a short span of time can be heartbreaking.

We Don’t wish for anymore break-ups, If there's Anything we didn't state up there. Please let us Know
